The other day I walked into our bedroom and found my beautiful wife looking for an important document that she thought she had filed two years ago
I couldn’t resist checking her progress after 10 minutes and then at 20 minutes. No success! Finally in the afternoon, bingo! She found the document. The best part of the story is that after purging all her files, she suddenly remembered she had sent a photo of the document to someone two years ago…. and that’s how she found it.
Bonjour. In this video, I want to share two pieces of advice. Firstly, being organized is quite important. Secondly, there is more to life than just being organized.
My suggestion regarding organization is to have a simple intuitive filing system. Think about the top five to eight headings of your filing system. For example, at home I have the following headings:
People & Events
Sports & Hobbies
Finance
Domestic
Medical
School
Business
Under each heading I have a few subheadings, and this is how our filing system is organized. Well at least mine ☺
I’m quite organized and probably a little bit more organized than my wife Toni Kim. However, she is probably one of the most loving and caring people I know. She’s an amazing Mum. She’s an amazing friend. She’s a beautiful and amazing wife. Sometimes organized people like myself can get lost in all the details and often miss seeing the big picture. Toni Kim brings this to me and our family.
So, my suggestion is to have a very simple filing structure and keep things organized. But at the end of the day that’s not the most important thing. Never lose track of the big picture, both at work and at home.
This is this week’s Work Smarter: Live Better tip. I hope you enjoy it.
A bientôt
