Ever wondered why people leave their jobs or feel completely dissatisfied at work?

There are plenty of studies on this, but three reasons always come out on top:
Lack of variety and challenge – They feel bored, stuck in the same routine.
Conflict with others – Whether it’s with their team or their manager, tensions build up.
Overload and burnout – There’s just too much to do, and the stress becomes unbearable.
In this video, I want to share some key insights on boosting performance while maintaining well-being.
I’m in Bangalore, India, working with a group of leaders from a large global company. It’s my first time in this lush, green city, and I’m loving the experience—the warmth of the people and their thirst for learning is incredible.

These leaders have spent a lot of time (and money) figuring out their business strategy for the next 5 to 10 years. They know exactly where they want to go.
But their biggest struggle? Execution.
Their people are overwhelmed. There’s too much work, tensions between different levels of leadership, and a sense that many jobs have become repetitive and uninspiring. Sound familiar?
In our session, we tackled three game-changing solutions:
1. Get Better at Managing the Day-to-Day Chaos

No matter how clear your strategy is, the reality is that everyday work doesn’t stop—emails, meetings, requests, last-minute issues.
The first thing I helped them with was triaging the flood. In an ideal world, we’d only focus on high-impact tasks. But in the real world, we need systems to manage the constant stream of work more efficiently, so it doesn’t bury us.
2. Less Is Best – Prioritise Like You Mean It

This one is tough. Most companies think the more priorities they have, the better. But the opposite is true.
Trying to do too much at once only leads to diluted efforts, slower progress, and frustrated teams. The real challenge is having the courage to choose just two or three priorities—not five, not ten.
Every leader in the room had to pick their top two to three priorities, and it was a real eye-opener.
3. Get Your Team on the Same Page

One of the most powerful things a team can do? Align their priorities—together.
Every quarter, get the whole team together for a quick session. Everyone shares what they’re focusing on, and the rest of the team challenges them. It’s a chance to:
- Make sure everyone is working towards the same goals
- Strengthen team collaboration and trust
- Reduce misunderstandings and internal conflicts
The Impact? Game-Changing.
When teams do these three things—handle the flood, focus on fewer priorities, and align as a team—everything shifts:
Performance skyrockets – Fewer, clearer priorities lead to faster, better results.
Stronger team spirit – Everyone is on the same page, speaking the same language.
Less stress, more control – People feel calmer, more in control, and more engaged at work.
So, my question to you is: Do you have a great system to manage the daily flood of work? Do you have the courage to choose just a few priorities that truly matter? Does your team take time to align and challenge each other on priorities?
I’ll leave you with that thought as I head out to explore more of this amazing city.
This is this week’s Work Smarter: Live Better tip.
Hope you have a lovely day!
