Bleeding in my personal life

As you may know, the pandemic forced many people to make hard choices and face challenging consequences. However, for some, working from home has been a silver lining. With no commute, people have saved a lot of time, allowing them to invest in personal and family matters. Recent research published in the National Bureau of Economic Research found that people who work from home save approximately 72 minutes per day.

Unfortunately, working from home can also lead to an increase in work time, as personal and work boundaries become blurred.

In this video, I want to share three simple steps that can make a significant impact on your happiness.

When working from home, it can be challenging to separate our personal and professional lives. With the lines between work and home becoming increasingly blurred, it’s more important than ever to establish clear boundaries to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

That’s why it’s crucial to clarify, communicate, and respect your personal boundaries. By doing so, you can enhance your happiness, engagement, and energy.

I recommend starting by identifying your personal boundaries, such as your start and end times, family time, and leave time. For instance, I prefer to work from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and prioritize family time outside these hours.

Once you clarify your boundaries, communicate clearly to your team, assistant, or whoever needs to know. Finally, ensure that your boundaries are respected.

So, I would like to leave you with a question. What is one personal boundary that, if not respected, would deplete your energy? Take some time to reflect and identify it. Then, clarify, communicate, and respect that boundary.

I hope you found this tip helpful and have a lovely day.

A bientôt,
Cyril
