How to avoid slow but sure death

Hi this is Cyril from Work Smarter, Live Better.
In this video, I want to talk about a very simple topic: Continuous Improvement.

Sorry for my French, I’ll say it in Japanese, “Kaizen”.

I’m at the moment in Sydney in a Swiss hotel with an amazing bunch of people. I’m part of the group called ‘Thought Leaders’, a group of coaches, trainers, speakers that get together and actually learn together. For once, we are not the one training people or speaking to people, we are the one being trained.

So, what do we do? Once a month, we have a webinar with a small group and also a one-on-one with a coach. And every three months we get together for three days intensive, and for three days it’s just being challenged, learning new things and growing.

Recently someone asked me: ‘Do you really need this, Cyril? You are training people around the world, you’ve got a book which is a best-seller, you’re speaking around the world, I mean, do you really need to do all this?’. My answer ‘Hundred percent yes. It’s so important.’

You see one of my value is about continuous improvement, is about learning. I call it ‘The Thirst of Learning’. So let me ask you:

What are you doing to learn?

What are you doing to improve yourself?

Some simple suggestions. Everyday the first thing I do when I wake up is to learn. I read a book to learn something or watch a Ted talk. Every morning.

As mentioned I am part of this learning group Thought Leaders.

I have four mentors that every quarter help me. And I also book myself regularly on training courses.

What do you do to improve yourself? It’s so important in my view.

How can you improve your skills on the job and in your personal life?

This is this week’s Work Smarter Live Better tip. What do you do daily to improve yourself?

Thank you.
See you next time.
