I was so nervous for this meeting

I was so nervous for this meeting. It was a massive business opportunity for me. A one-hour session that I had spent I don’t know how many hours preparing for, carefully designing the slides, polishing the thinking, and crafting the case for why Work Smarter: Live Better would be a perfect fit for them. But the meeting didn’t go at all as expected.

In this video, I want to help you implement what I’ve learned over the last 20 years working with the busiest executives, showing them how to get more done and make it home on time for their family dinner.

I was meeting with the partners of one of the largest consulting firms in the world. They advise global corporations on strategy, transformation, and moving their business forward, and they wanted to see if our approach could help their clients. The problem they were seeing was clear: they would deliver brilliant strategy recommendations, but the busy executives were so overwhelmed that they simply had no time to implement them.

We ended up in a deep discussion about the constant push for “more” that leaders face today—the endless stream of daily communication, the endless meetings, and the sheer volume of Business As Usual (BAU) that leaves zero room for strategy execution, let alone a balanced personal life.

Then, right halfway through the meeting, one of the partners stopped me. They said, “Cyril, we need to stop here. Before we talk about our clients, we need this. Can you help us?”

I was completely taken aback.

Since that day, I’ve had the pleasure of working with many of their top partners and leaders. They are brilliant, high-performing people, but they were working crazy hours, traveling non-stop, and drowning under 400 to 500 emails a day. What surprised me most was realizing that despite their high positions, most of them had never actually been taught how to work.

The habits to work smarter aren’t overly complicated, but you have to learn them and intentionally put them into practice. Everything this firm hired me to teach their leaders, I have poured into my new book, Less Achieves More.

Because I want to make sure you actually put these insights into practice rather than letting the book sit on a shelf, I’m doing something special. If you buy the book by October 13, I will personally guide you through how to implement it. I’ve organised four live, interactive workshops where I will walk you through step-by-step implementation. You can just click the link below to join me.

This is this week’s Work Smarter: Live Better tip. I hope you join me on our implementation workshops.

Hope you have a lovely day.

À bientôt,
