Little changes that have a big impact

In this video, I want to share with you how little changes, little things that you can fine tune, can actually have a huge impact.

A few years ago I was training Carolyn, a senior manager of a large Australian bank. She shared with me a comment from one of her colleagues who was enquiring about the training she was doing with me. The person was under the impression it was mainly about tidying desk, decluttering inbox and organising calendar.

I was quite touched by Carolyn’s response: ‘No, not really. This is what you see, but this is much deeper than this. It is about transforming your life by making a lot of small changes.”

Yes the journey covers area such as tidying your files, decluttering your task lists and your inbox, prioritising your time, improving your meetings. This is all the things you see. But it is much deeper than this.

My point today is that all these little habits you might consider as not important, added together have a profound impact on people.

The reason I’m so passionate about this journey, about changing people’s work habits, is because I have seen so many time the impact it has on their life. How changing your work habits can transform your life.

If I may, take the time to make those little improvements. Take the time to improve slightly how you organise yourself, how you manage your time, how you prioritise, how you manage your meetings.

This is this week’s Work Smarter: Live Better’s tip. Take the time to make these small little changes. All these 1% little changes added together can transform your life.
