Bonjour. In this video I want to share one very simple trick to improve the quality of your meetings.
I have the pleasure of training many leaders and their teams around the world. When I ask them about some of the challenges they are facing, I often hear complaints about meetings: we have too many meetings, they are too long, they are not efficient and effective, and so on.
My aim today is not to solve the whole meeting management issue. I just want to make a little suggestion to improve the quality of your meetings: start by making people smile.
Often, we have meetings to try to solve problems. An issue is discussed and people try to come up with a solution to the problem. This is not to say that meetings are negative, but they are normally very challenging.
My suggestion would be this: instead of focusing on the issue straight away, start by asking everyone to share one quick win. Don’t spend too much time on this but dedicate the first one or two minutes to something positive.
It could be something directly related to the topic. You are about to discuss how to progress in an important project. There are many things you can do better to improve the process however, why not start the meeting by sharing a few wins / things which are going well?
Or it could be a win at a more personal level. Why not ask everyone during that Monday meeting to share one good thing that happened to them at the weekend?
It is a simple way to steer the mood into a more positive direction.
