Half of your brain is still in the office

Have you noticed how the end of a workday can become completely crazy?

You tell yourself, “I’m leaving on time today.”
Then one more email appears.
One more small task.

Suddenly an extra hour disappears. You rush home — but half of your brain is still sitting at your desk.

It’s exhausting.

In this video, I want to suggest three simple tips to help you finish your day calm and in control.

Three Clean-Ups to Close Your Day:

1. A physical clean-up

Start with your desk.

Even if you’re generally tidy, take a moment to reset your physical space. Put papers away. Clear clutter. Leave your desk in a state that feels fresh for tomorrow.

It creates a sense of closure.

    2. A digital clean-up

Open your computer and scan for unfinished items.

Unsent emails. Incomplete tasks. Calendar items you didn’t finish. You don’t have to complete them now — that could keep you there all night. The goal is to capture them.

Record everything in your task system so nothing is floating in your head.

      3. A mental clean-up

      Pause and reflect:

What did I intend to accomplish today?

      What still needs attention?

Acknowledge what didn’t get done and consciously reschedule it. When it’s written down and organised, your brain can finally let go.

You don’t need perfection. You need clarity.

This simple end-of-day process takes five to ten minutes.

      But the impact is enormous.

      You arrive home more present.

      More relaxed.

And far more in control of your workload.

Instead of replaying unfinished tasks in your head, you’ve created a clean break between work and personal time.

So, I ask you this: What does your end-of-day routine look like — and do you even have one?

I’m about to enjoy a few more hours exploring Brussels before leaving this beautiful city.
