A bad news and a good news

I have a bad news and a good news for you.

Let’s start with the bad news: achieving 100% control over your time is an impossible feat. Life is unpredictable, and there will always be unexpected events and tasks that demand your attention, making it unrealistic to have complete control over every aspect of your schedule.

But here’s the good news: achieving 100% control over your time is an impossible feat. Accepting this reality is actually liberating. Instead of chasing an unattainable goal, you can adopt a more empowering approach.

Bonjour, in this video I want to share with you a valuable insight that can have a big impact on your productivity.

During my work with leaders, I emphasize the importance of the weekly plan. This crucial step involves taking a few moments each week to carefully organize your to-do list and allocate time in your calendar. I understand the reservations some may have about investing time in this process. You might be thinking, “Cyril, I simply don’t have the time for a weekly plan. My schedule changes constantly, so what’s the point?”

But here’s the thing—I’m not asking for a significant time commitment. I’m asking for just 10 to 15 minutes each week to reflect and answer a few essential questions.

Start by considering your priorities and ask yourself, “What do I need to do next week to make progress?” This simple question will guide your planning process and help you identify the necessary steps.

Next, examine your calendar and block specific time slots for those tasks and priorities. By doing so, you’re proactively creating focused work periods and ensuring that important matters receive the attention they deserve.

Now, I understand that 10 to 15 minutes might not seem like much, but trust me—it’s a game-changer. By dedicating this short amount of time to planning, you’ll already be in the top 5% of individuals who actively engage in managing their time. It’s a significant step toward increased productivity and efficiency.

So, here’s the choice I present to you: Will you resign yourself to the belief that since 100% control is unattainable, it’s not worth managing your time? Or will you embrace the fact that although complete control may be elusive, investing 10 to 15 minutes each week can empower you to take charge of as much of your time as possible?

This is this week’s Work Smarter: Live Better tip.

Wishing you a productive and fulfilling day!

A bientôt
Cyril
